The death of EPCC Trustee Nina Piña was announced on the college website Jan. 22. No cause of death was given for the 58-year-old Piña who has served as District 6 Southeast representative on the Board since 2019.
The college announcement expressed sadness at Piña’s passing, saying she was a “passionate advocate for students.”
No notice has been posted for Piña’s replacement. The next election for the Board of Trustees for the El Paso County Community College District will be held on May 3, 2025. The election is scheduled for single member districts District 4, District 5 and District 6, according to the EPCC Administration website.
The filing period for applications to the Trustee Board are underway with a deadline of Feb. 14, according to information posted on the EPCC Administration website. Applications to run for board membership are made available in English and Spanish.
